Celebrate Biggest Morning Tea with Maple
Maple Services is thrilled to participate in The Biggest Morning Tea Initiative operated by the Cancer Council. This event is an opportunity to bring our community together and raise funds for cancer research, prevention, and support services. In Australia, cancer is a leading cause of disability, with more than 160,000 people diagnosed with cancer each year. Approximately 43% of people diagnosed with cancer will have a disability as a result of their diagnosis. This highlights the critical need for ongoing support and research to improve outcomes for those affected by cancer. By taking part in The Biggest Morning Tea, Maple Services is proud to contribute to the fight against cancer and help make a positive difference in the lives of those impacted by this disease.
What is the Biggest Morning Tea?
The Biggest Morning Tea is an annual event held in Australia by the Cancer Council, where individuals, groups, and communities come together to raise funds for cancer research, prevention, and support services. It’s also a great opportunity to catch up with your friends, family, colleagues or community over a cuppa and some delicious treats.
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has been running for over 25 years, and it is the Cancer Council’s most significant fundraising event. The concept of the event is straightforward – hosts organise a morning tea, and guests make a donation to attend. They aim to reduce the impact of cancer on individuals and the community, and to lessen the burden for people affected by cancer. By hosting a morning tea, you can help them achieve their vision of a cancer free future.
When is The Biggest Morning Tea?
The official date for Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is Thursday, 25th May 2023, but you can host your tea anytime in May or June that suits you. You can host at home, at work, at school, online or anywhere you like. You can make it as big or as small as you want, and invite anyone you want. The only rule is to have fun and raise funds!

Disability and Cancer in Australia
As a disability service provider, Maple Services is aware of the significant impact cancer has on individuals and their families. Cancer can have physical, emotional and financial effects, often resulting in a disability. It’s essential to continue research, support services, and awareness programs to improve outcomes for people affected by cancer.
In Australia, cancer is a leading cause of disability. Approximately 43% of people diagnosed with cancer will have a disability as a result of their diagnosis. This can include physical disabilities such as mobility issues and fatigue, as well as emotional and psychological disabilities such as anxiety and depression.
People with a disability often face additional challenges when dealing with cancer, such as access to services, transportation, and communication barriers. It’s essential to have specialised support services available to address the unique needs of individuals with disabilities affected by cancer.
So, join us on Thursday the 25th of May in raising much needed awareness, support, and funds for Cancer in Australia.
